Mother's Day Cards on Sale, tutorials to make your own, and a new class offering

Hello Reader,

Mother's Day is coming up my friends. And I want to start out by saying that for many people it's a very hard day. Some have lost their mom, some don't have a good relationships with their mom, some desperately want to be a mom, and for some, it's all just plain complicated.

Many of those close to me fall into one of these categories and if that's you, please do something comforting for yourself this Mother's Day. Feel the feelings, but also plan some self care. I'm sending out a big hug to you right now!

If your mom is still with you, and you want to send her a beautiful and thoughtful Mother's Day card or gift, I've got you covered.

I have designed over a dozen different Mother's Day cards this year (not all of them are shown below), and they are all inspired by my sweet momma. She loves daisies, her favorite color is pink, and she is my confidant, my biggest cheerleader, and SO. Much. More. Be sure to check out the inside prose on these cards, AND it is customizable in most cases.

Create a Mother's Day Card TWO ways

MOM, a small word with such BIG meaning!

Recently I drew the word MOM in big capital letters, and I'm finding it amazing how many ideas are flowing for what one can do with that base idea. I've been designing both with watercolors and pens, and in Procreate (a drawing app for the iPad).

Head to my most recent blog post for tutorials on creating a card both ways. The blog includes a blank MOM drawing (you'd be surprised how hard it is to get these block letters drawn out decently!) for you to print out and trace onto watercolor paper or upload into Procreate, AND a free procreate stamp brush with the block letters.

This is also a great activity for kids to fill in how they want for mom's day.

A Quote From a Mom

This is a mom speaking about her grown daughter. I can resonate! The book is called, "Sandwich" and the main character is a mom of two adult kids and the family of 4 go on their annual beach vacation. It's a raw version of her thoughts about loving kids, loving her aging parents, and loving her husband in this season of life. I listened to the audio book - lovely!

Have you always wanted to learn how to paint with watercolor?

Hello Reader, Happy Memorial Day! Today I'm in our camper writing this newsletter as my husband cares for our 14 year old who has an awful stomach bug. I can't handle this sort of thing, so my husband whooshed me out of the house to the camper and I am ever so grateful for him! I have recently shared that I've started offering art classes where I come to YOU. This is the way to go because it's in the comfort of your own home, with your own food / beverage choices, and your own friends or...

Hello Reader, I've been noticing a little uprising, a little slap in AI's face if you will. REAL mail, hand written correspondence, and handmade cards/postcards are having a moment. Friends, I'm talking real pens with real ink on real paper in your real handwriting. In this time where AI (artificial intelligence like Claude, chat GPT, and so many more) is taking over a LOT of the things we used to do with our own hands, the hand written or hand painted items are becoming more and more unique...
