Hey Reader, how is your holiday season going? If you are a typical human like me, this season is probably not all sugar plums and fairies (is that how you spell the plural of fairy?), as holidays can bring up issues that you can ignore most of the year. Sometimes there are unmet expectations and disappointments, sometimes there is a loss that feels more heavy than ever at this time... BUT, I'm here to tell you that your art supplies are always there for you! Pour out your soul on the page friends, the act of creating is a beautiful mindfulness activity that calms your heart and mind. It's scientific. I have been creating almost everyday and it has become a mental health NEED for me to get to the art table as often as possible. Some of the easy cards I've painted in watercolor are mini tutorial reels on my instagram, so if you haven't followed me there yet you should! My handle is @playartwithkim. Here are a few examples of the simple art that is holding me together this holiday season: I've also been creating Christmas art on Procreate when I don't want to get out supplies (actually, lets be honest, it's usually when my art desk is a DISASTER and I don't feel like cleaning it up for a new project!) and I just want to sit on the couch. Here is a fun little piece I made and am using as my phone wallpaper and Lock Screen. Click on it to save it for your phone wallpaper if you'd like! If you know you want to create, but don't know where to start, just pick up a round lid off of something in your kitchen and draw a circle and fill it in with paint. Draw a little thingy that looks like the top of an ornament and a string and you've got yourself an ornament! There are ENDLESS ways to go about this as you'll see if you just sit down and do it. Starting is key, the creativity flows after that. Here are a few ideas to get you going, the tips are in the captions. Okay friend, I have to go get the table cleared off because my mom is coming to do her annual gingerbread houses with my boys (they are now teenagers, but gingerbread houses do not have an age limit!). Now go get creating something today and let your mind rest from the hoopla of this season! Happy crazy season! Kim |

Hello Reader, I'm super duper excited to share that Delores Nascent of DeloresART asked me to be a guest on her podcast, The Creative Jugglejoy Podcast. I found Delores last year when she hosted one of her 5 Cards in 5 Days Challenges. I had just finally settled on my 'niche' which was greeting cards, so this challenge came at the perfect time. In fact, it set me up for some amazing success! You'll have to listen to the podcast to hear the whole story. Listen to the Podcast Meanwhile, If you...
