Hello Reader, In my last newsletter I shared Pantone's color of the year, "Cloud Dancer" which is basically white. Underwhelmed? Me too, but don't worry, Pinterest has come out with their 2026 color palette and there's no white involved. If you want to see the full article, including how they choose these colors, click this link. These are not the colors that I would naturally gravitate towards, but this morning I thought I'd give them a whirl and create a greeting card using only these colors. By the way, the middle color above is actually a deep plum color but it basically looks dark brown in that pic and in my design. Not too bad for a quick design! I'll do some more exploring with these colors, but in the meantime, I created a Procreate palette with the exact hex codes for the 2026 Pinterest Palette , feel free to use it too: Along with Pantone Color of the Year and Pinterest trends, I always keep a watch out for Cat Coquillette's yearly trend report. Click HERE for access to her free 2026 Trend Report. The first three trends she list are: Blurred Watercolor (LOVE!), Painterly Marks (YES PLEASE!), and Maximalist Bouquet (Hallelujah!). Here are a few pieces of my work that I think match at least two of those trends: Well friends, happy creating, on trend or not! I like to do both depending on my mood and my need. If I need to create for my own mental health, rules go out the door and I just get in 'the zone' and play. If I'm trying to create sellable greeting cards and products, I try to stay abreast of current trends and see if any of my work would resonate as I did above. Hello Reader, Happy Memorial Day! Today I'm in our camper writing this newsletter as my husband cares for our 14 year old who has an awful stomach bug. I can't handle this sort of thing, so my husband whooshed me out of the house to the camper and I am ever so grateful for him! I have recently shared that I've started offering art classes where I come to YOU. This is the way to go because it's in the comfort of your own home, with your own food / beverage choices, and your own friends or...
Hello Reader, I've been noticing a little uprising, a little slap in AI's face if you will. REAL mail, hand written correspondence, and handmade cards/postcards are having a moment. Friends, I'm talking real pens with real ink on real paper in your real handwriting. In this time where AI (artificial intelligence like Claude, chat GPT, and so many more) is taking over a LOT of the things we used to do with our own hands, the hand written or hand painted items are becoming more and more unique...
